  1. I choose "Nature" by Sophie Rickett.
This image is dark because there are only white and black, but the black dominate on this photograph.
In the middle of this image, I can see a owl who seems looks us.
We can imagine, like she is represented in the night, that she waits to her preys or she stays awake.
To my opinion, this image is representative of the hunting.
Because of the dark colours, we can imagine the death is near.

  2. I chose "Rick Genest" by Aline and Jacqueline Tappia. This picture mixes the strange with the beauty of the butterflies, we can say that the man is tattooed like a skeleton or a zombie: we can see his bones, these tattoos remind the death. He closes his eyes which can make us think of the inner suffering but all the time the current butterflies bring back "life" to the photography. This photo is familiar, I have already seen this man in the Lady Gaga's video "Born This Way". This photo is strange and original, some people can find it scary and others find the beauty inside.

  3. Like Carla, I choose "Rick Genest" by Aline and Jacqueline Tappia because is my favorite. On the one hand there is the beauty whith the butterflies which remind us the life but on another side we see like a skull of skeleton which can make us think of death. He has the eyes closed as if was in peace with himself and the butterflies, but also he may be suffering we don't know. It's the way of seeing and interpreting this image which show us the true beauty because the vision of this image change from one person to another.

  4. I choose "Nature" by Sophie Rickett, In the middle of this photograph we can see an owl staring at us however he has no eyes, it looks like he's questioning us also inside his fur i can distinguish a s raven which is staring at us menacingly. The owl's wing has some droplets of water or blood, on both cases they contrast with the color of the fur/wing one is lighter and the other one darker. It's dark and blurry around the owl and we don't know what's behind that, I think he's in a forest but we aren't sure of it, we don't even know what he's perching on.
The owl's mysterious and seems to be looking at something strange it intrigues me that's why i choose it

  5. I decided to choose the photo of ALexander McQueen "Paris Fashion week". We can see a woman model during the parade , she is wearing a black swan costume. We can see a contrast bectween her white skin and his black costume. The expression of his face is hard and cold thus she seems nasty and the atsmosphre is terryfing. The dominant color is the black therefore the ambiance is heavy but there is touch of red on his mouth. ALexander McQueen creates a mysterious and strange creature who is a bird woman more precisely a swan woman this is original because we can see this kind of character in horror film or in tales.

  6. I chose the photo of the model. This represents a model walking down the runway in an Alexander McQueen outfit during the Paris Fashion Week in 2009. The model is white with a complete black outfit which creates a contrast. Her red lipstick is smudged and goes outside of the contour of her lips. Her outfit has feathers in it ; she is represented as a black bird which can be a symbole of magic, mystery. As for me, there is a dark and mysterious ambiance in this photo. It rminded me the picture we saw in class with the woman in white hidden behind a veil and wearing antlers.

  7. I choose "engraving" by Dan Hiler because there is so much things to talk about in this picture which the dominate colors are black and white.
We can see the eyes of a woman and his bust because a part of her face is hidden by a kind of black balaclava which cover her hairs too. On this balaclava we can see differents figures which create a vision of the universe and stars in the space and in the sides of the balaclava we can imagine there are branches. Her bust, which is cover by a dress I see some motif of trees and nature. Moreover she puts her hands on her heart so this picture makes me feels like our spirit his a kind of universe because we've got many ideas and a knowledge which is infinite like the space and our body is like a tree because we can break a part of our arm or leg like a branch can fall down. But the most important thing that I think it's that our heart control a big part of us, of our choices and also it's because of the nature we are alives so we must get the nature in our heart and protect it.

  8. I choose the picture of Dan Hiller called “engraving”. It’s strange and mysterious, it’s divided by the light and the dark; the background is in white whereas the woman is in contrast of black. At first sight it’s not dark and terrifying because of the white all around the body, it’s just mysterious and more deep that we think. First, her head represent the universe, the cosmos and the stars. This would mean that the human brain is infinite and even if we are dead your brain will continue to live among the stars. I talk about death because her hands are positioned like a person when he is buried. However, around her head there are twigs and the woods covering her body. This would mean that we all come from the nature, and we will return to the nature after her death. So what ever we do we all gonna die one day and return at what we were before we born. Life is an eternal resumption that never ends. That picture represents perfectly the reincarnation and the colour’s are perfectly choose too. It’s dark because we died and it’s scary but it’s luminous because we are not totally dead, we still alive but not in your body.

  9. i choose "engraving" by dan Hiller.I think that the eyes of the woman is the transition between the earth(ground) and the sky. the body of the woman represent the woods and his head represent the sky. so we can think, the body of the woman is on the earth and is head in the stars. the woman with her eyes and her hands are the part of light in the painting.

  10. I have chosen Rick Genest of Aline and Jaqueline Tappia., because it represents a side face of a human.
This black and white picture represents a human skull.
I love this picture because this side face is decorated with tattoos representing butterflies.
It reminds me of 'the Mexico's The Day of the Dead'.

  11. I choose the first one,Dan Hiller, engraving. First it is my favorite one because we can see the sky and the stars on her head. Then her bust represents a beautiful landscape, more enlightened than her head, this is the contrast. The only normal things are her hands and her eyes,I can't explain why, maybe later, every parts of her body will be sky and landscapes

  12. I chose "engraving” by Dan Hiller. I really like this picture because, for me, this is the most interesting one since there are a lot of things to say about it.
In the middle, we see two different parts of a woman’s body. The woman’s head represents a constellation with thousands of stars on a black background, like the galaxy. Only her eyes are visible.
Then, we can see the woman’s body which represents the woods, with big trees on a grey background, this part is clearer and only her hands are visible This picture gives me a feeling of freedom with the sky and also a feeling lightness with the nature.

  13. I choose Dan hiller the first image, because from a first point of view this art can seem very simple and yet it is consituté of many details. I like its simplicity, the fact that there is no artifice and yet small details like the images on the jacket makes it special.

  14. I choose "Rick Genest" by Aline and Jacqueline Tappia, because this image is very beautiful.
The contrast between the black and the white provokes a strange ambiance.
The tattoos provokes fear but the butterflies are like dark angels, they are beautiful.
This image is original because we can feelling differents emotions.
The character seems death, but here, the death is represented like something beautiful.
So I like this image because the death in not represented like terrible.

  15. I choose the last image because I liked the contrast between the death, which is represente by the skull tatoos, and the life, which is represented by the butterflies. Moreover, I also liked the representation of the death like something beautiful.

  17. The photograph "Nature" by Sophy Rickett is really interesting. I like the way the photograph has been taken, in the darkness but without flash, so that it seems more natural and realistic, hence the title. It creates a mysterious and odd atmosphere especially with the wide open eyes of the owl in her dark environment. it produces, on the viewer, the sensation of being observed and it creates a certain discomfort...

  18. The photography Engraving of Dan Hiller particularly captivated my attention. Indeed, the image is rather mysterious and glaucous. We can see a woman masked by a kind of black veil recovering completely the face except for the eyes. This strange dar mask, seems to rise towards the sky. He gives a cosmic aspect, in particular with his extreme blackness strewed with white points comparable to stars. The cosmos is infinite, can be a translation of the overflowing and unlimited imagination of this woman there ? However, on the other hand, the fact that the head of this woman is completely submerged by the darkness, can be also translated by the wickedness without weaknesses of this woman. Indeed, this strange dark matter going out of the head, can be perceived as the dark thoughts of this woman, beginning to grow in a disproportionate way, a possible ascent towards the darkness ? Futhermore, this dark matter recovers its mouth, meaning the enormous quantity of gossip or blashphemy wich this woman tells.

PS: Solveig Estrela is my mother's account, I did not manage to post a comment with mine.
